I thought I read somewhere, or heard that Willis is making around 130k. I'm probably wrong. But I think JSU pays around 300k if I'm not mistaken. Whatever we pay now, we need to pay more than our peer schools, its fine at the moment, but eventually I want our school to be the job that the best coaches coming up should be fighting over when the jobs become available.

FBS Troy was paying their HC $810K this past season. We have to build to that point. Stuff will get better every year in every aspect.

Absolutely, but at the same time, if you build to the point that you could pay coaches, build facilities and recruit to that level, I feel like FCS or otherwise, you would be doing a disservice not to. I just want to see the school I love do the absolute best it can. It would be great to see us (in FCS) be the program all around that makes most G5 schools jealous. Like the article that Greg Dewalt posted in the Times Daily about needing a new stadium, he said, we are not just competing with the Big South, we are competing with JSU, A&M, State, even Troy, UAB and South Alabama. And if we want to be the next NDSU, or be close to that level, we cant let the FBS vs FCS difference put a ceiling on what we do. We have to be smart and do the most we can do at any given time. Speaking of that article, he even mentioned a proposed on campus site for a stadium, so at least it's being planned in some form.

For anyone interested, the article is here: UNA needs to move on new football stadium. I had read it back in June and wanted to refresh my own memory. He's absolutely right about one thing in particular - we should have broke ground on a stadium back in 2012. Imagine if our first D1 home game against Western Illinois was being played in newly opened "Wallace Stadium". Unless a new scoreboard and/or video board is installed at Braly sometime between now and September, I will be more than a little embarrassed when the Leathernecks and their fans show up. And I'm one that for a long time thought we could make Braly work. Unfortunately, all these years of neglect and unfavorable stadium deals have left us now in a situation where without a new home, I fear we will trend more and more towards mediocrity (at best). It's that important.

I know a lot of people - my parents’ age, that refuse to go to Braly after having to fight for parking, stand in line on the hill forever to buy tickets, deal with the concession lines, etc. I think there are probably a lot out there who are in the same boat. The casual fans who have just had a bad experience one too many times there and choose to listen or watch at home. To get the numbers that we want in attendance, the non-hardcore fans need a reason to come out and they need a decent facility with good parking/convenience to get them there.

To get the numbers that we want in attendance, the non-hardcore fans need a reason to come out and they need a decent facility with good parking/convenience to get them there. The parking is certainly frustrating, and it's worse by the elevation changes surrounding the stadium. Now, that being said, a lot of college football stadiums have lousy parking. How many use the parking as an excuse not to go? Clearly not everyone, but there are some. Still, there could have been solutions created over the years to make this easier. Obviously the school board pretty much threw in the towel from their side, however. They simply don't care. On ticket issues, you can buy tickets through roarlions.com now. I did so this past year. The ticket comes to your email and you can either print them or have them looked at/scanned at the gate (I don't think the attendants scanned ours, just looked on my phone screen). I realize not everyone feels comfortable going through that process, especially older folks. But it's an option. I think a big reason our attendance has suffered is the same reason a ton of other schools have. There are just so many games on TV now, if you're a casual fan that wants to watch some football, why not just kick back in the recliner and watch ESPN? I realize our games haven't been on TV as much. I'm talking about the sort of fan that likes football but just casually follows UNA, an SEC team, etc. Unfortunately those are the people that we need to boost attendance. Would a new stadium be an incentive to get them out of the house? Maybe. I know others here would like to see a 20,000+ seat stadium, and I'd love for us to NEED that some day. But if you promised me 15k seats and a ton of amenities, I'd take it. We can always expand later if the demand is there.
