Thanks for the links! I love the Twitter shoutouts, especially UMBC's. Underdogs tend to stick together, haha. Man, this situation just brings back my disgust over the ridiculous postseason ban. It hurts the players, who the NCAA likes to say they care about. Why punish a team if they are good enough to make the jump to D1 and still beat people? Of course, I know it's a long season, but this is a great team. We saw it last year and saw it last night. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a run at an ASUN title. One thing is for sure. They have converted this "it's women's basketball, who cares?" guy into an actual fan!

The postseason ban during the transition upward is one of the most ill-conceived aspected of any NCAA policy, IMO.
Yet, they'll let teams into the playoffs right away going downward. How is that fair? Remember when Winston-Salem State was a terrible FCS squad for a few years, moved back down to D2 and went to the title game? They were 1-10 in FCS in 2009, 8-2 their first year back in D2, deep into the playoffs their next season and to the title game in 2012.
Interestingly, that coach is now A&M's coach.

And got the brakes beat off of them by VSU in the Championship Game. I was there, it was the most uncompetitive game I have ever saw.

Theoretically they could’ve been a team full of D1-caliber players. At least the ones still on scholarships. I think the penalty from FCS to FBS isn’t quite as harsh. I believe Liberty is bowl eligible after two years? If I heard that correctly. And supposedly they are able to go to a bowl this year (their second year of FBS) if they have 6 wins and there aren’t enough otherwise bowl-eligible teams. Unlikely to happen, but still. I get that the postseason ban is likely used as a deterrent to keep every school from making the jump. But can’t we come up with a better solution? One that doesn’t punish a kid for his or her entire career? Make it two years if you must, but four is just ridiculous.

Agreed. The increase in admission should have sufficed to lessen the years of the postseason ban.

You cant get that publicity in D2... My uncle called me from Houston and said it was all over the Houston local news and showed highlights from the game.
