And a point of reference, after a talk with Azusa Pacific parents at the game the other night, they all said that Braly is the nicest stadium that they have visited yet, we are just tired of it. Not saying we should stay, just some prospective. been to two GNAC stadiums, WOU and CWU, both had no visitors bleachers and hardly any amenities, so i dont blame them. when western oregon came here in 2015 some of their guys loved Braly (i saw why when i went to their place) I think Braly is still a really good stadium for D2. We definitely do lose sight of that. Heck, just go spend some time going through the “Stadiums” section over at D2Football. It’s pretty easy to see that the City, or Board of Education, or whoever, got complacent over the years. They didn’t think the NCAA would ever move the championship game, and as long as it was here, they didn’t think UNA would ever move up. So the stadium suffered. If I’m remembering correctly, the NCAA basically forced them to install the turf and make some other cosmetic changes those last few years they were here. Maybe they were hinting to do more and nobody went that extra mile. The press box, locker rooms (as in renovations and expansions to each), and the parking situation are issues that, to me, should’ve been addressed at least around the early 2000s.

Is there enough room to build a 20,000 seat stadium around the current practice field? Seems like it would be a tight squeeze. Nonetheless, I like the idea of a football/soccer stadium on campus. Tailgating would awesome if they could have it down the brick road from the fountain to the New Nursing Building (I believe it used to be Shelby Way and used to be able to drive on it). If a stadium is to be built on campus, what is the point of buying the old horse farm? Athletic Facility? Extra parking and amenities for the spring sports, it UNAs plans to make the Cox Creek site a spring sports complex.

I imagine they are plans for something in the next couple of years...we are the new kid on the block and already have serious upgrades to Flowers Hall, and the Tennis complex. We also upgraded several meeting rooms/locker rooms. I hope the new stadium will be on campus one day. I actually liked the stadium West Georgia built. We could a facility similar to that one with a few upgrades.

Go the manufactured housing route since it's (hopefully) going to be the florence board of dumb bells' baby eventually. It would be relatively inexpensive. You can probably lease something like that. It wouldn't be luxurious but why waste a lot of money? Since the arrogant board of dumb bells saw fit to jam their school right up against Braly when they had plenty of room to build farther to the west, I wouldn't do ANYTHING that might help them in any way in the future. Let's face it, the falcs will no longer play before large crowds anymore since Dubose is gone.

Any bunch dumb enough to build the high school gym on the middle school campus across town doesn't deserve a break.

To anyone interested, I played a visit to Braly today, looked at the almost finished middle school monstrosity. It's very very nice. But what jumped out at me was the parking. Anyone who has been on this board knows that I was against this from day 1, and its still not perfect, but, parking has increased drastically with the school being built. And spirit Hill seems bigger and better for some reason. Anyway, my point being is, if they would do away with the old baseball field, make a nice welcoming, well manicured area there, tear down the old buildings, build new locker rooms that are not just little block buildings. I could see staying at Braly long enough to have a good solid plan for a new stadium. Cosmetic issues are all we need to address at Braly until a new stadium happens. Please, if you can swing by there and check it out. Do so.

Will those lots be accessible on gamedays? If so, that does help some. For some reason I didn’t think the school board was planning to allow that. I think the problem is just the “catch-22” of the whole situation. UNA probably doesn’t want to invest money in a stadium they don’t own and don’t want to be in much longer. But, as we’ve said in other threads, ignoring Braly can have a bad effect on attendance and even the team itself, which could impact funding for a new stadium. I love Braly. Just wish all these controlling powers had seen fit to keep it updated over the years. There’s a lot of blame to go around.

Oh, so it looks like we need to attend Stadium Committee meetings. Anyone know who's on that committee? We're almost 2 years into this agreement.

There is parking in front of the school, about twice as much as before, there is also parking between the high school gym and the stadium with a nice grassy area and paved way to walk to the stadium. I dont know how they will use these areas on game days, but it's something.

I dont know how they will use these areas on game days, but it's something. Good deal. I was last in Florence just before Christmas and don't remember driving by the new school. The stadium agreement mentions UNA paying to use the school as a "pass through". I assume this is from the school parking lot to the stadium? If so that would help for people that struggle with walking up and down hills, since most of that ground should be flat. But $2500 per game to do that? Sheesh. That'll add up to over $10,000 per year... enough money, supposedly, to have a pep band at basketball games...

If you go by and look at the layout, you will scratch your head about why we would have to go through the school anyway. You can simply go around the school on the baseball field side and you are at the entrance to the stadium. I wouldn't pay a dime.
