Love to see that purple! t.co/iXWSaeq3q8I tweeted: Thousands of us would love to see that GOLD back o our football uniforms!!! I'm not really sure how to use Twitter so I have no idea if it went through. We should get everyone we know to chim in!

I've tweeted at the @unaathletics account a few times about the colors, but never gotten a response. I know the account is probably managed by a student, but I wonder if they ever pass along what people are saying to the higher ups? I would hope so. I'm actually a little surprised the buses have so much gold. They look great. It is strange that Kitts didn't say "purple AND gold". Is it intentional? Who knows. I'm sure they could have went with a mostly purple and white color scheme though, so maybe we should give them credit on this one.

Noticed Linder referred to UNA fans as the "Purple and GOLD nation" during the Pujol introduction press conference. I like hearing gold getting some luv. Maybe a sign?

I say quit leaving it up to the coaches, and mandate that a certain amount of gold have to be in the Uniforms and logos.

I guess coaches have some leeway in uniform decisions but the school's official colors should always show up. From a purely marketing and sales standpoint, you don't want to be tied down to one color and white. Fans want to have at least one shirt of each color to wear to games and whatnot. White is kind of a default color used with lettering of a primary color. If our schools colors were purple and white...well you have limited yourself to only two options. The old Business School in me says you want more options to generate more sales. Using lion gold, shucks, I would want a primary purple with gold shirt, primary gold with purple shirt, primary purple with white shirt, primary white with purple, primary gold with white, primary white with gold...not to mention the additional combinations you could do with tri color shirts. Heck on inventory but would increase sales. It's not all about the bucks but we will need some getting established in D1/FCS.

I saw a picture this weekend from one of our softball games, and one of our ladies was wearing a mix of purple and... teal. I can't remember if it was just accessories like a glove, knee pads, etc., but it was teal. I wish I knew now where I saw it. Probably from one of the Twitter accounts.
Softball is really the worst offender. And to be fair, I've watched enough college softball to know that almost every school seems to throw some weird colors into the mix (or at least black). For example, our softball colors seem to be purple, black, and white. Gray has started showing up, too. But VERY little gold on the softball unis. Maybe none at all.

The teal was in those special uniforms to help bring about cervical cancer awareness. There was a teal ribbon on one of the sleeves of the jersey and they complimented it well with the purple and teal socks. I like the idea of having a couple game specific jerseys/uniforms

Excuse my ignorance.

What started all this was an unfounded paranoia about gold, especially yellow gold. The Packers have had a little success (13 nfl championships) and a legion of the most dedicated fans in sports and their unis are always in the top 5 favorites as is LSU. One of the best moments in college football is watching the beautiful white jerseys, gold pants and purple numbers and trim, take the field on an October night!.
I wouldn't mind Notre Dame gold either. Their unis are always highly ranked and that's what we wore in the '60s and '70s. The LA Lakers have won a couple of world championships wearing UNA's old colors and sold about a billion dollars worth of those great colors over the decades. The Pirates (Pittsburgh, not Rogers) won world championships with gold.

Even more depressing than all purple.

I visited downtown Orlando this past weekend and was surprised to see so many purple and gold Lions! Seems their pro soccer team has the same colors and mascot.
