UTC is loaded….again. Defense returns some guys on the dline who can flat get after the quarterback. Offensive line is also loaded again. Trenches will be quite a test this week. Another portal quarterback for UTC who put up some crazy numbers at prep the last couple of years. Doesn’t hurt to have 1st team all conference running back behind you. Yep the Lions have a real test ahead of them in their home opener. I need to see our starting lineup for Saturday. Do we have an answer for Young at left guard? Can we create enough of a running lane to run on this always tough UTC run defense? Do we find some type of rhythm in the passing game this week? Where did our big freshman TE from last year go? He has to be targeted multiple times for us to keep drives alive. 14 and 9 make the tough catches, keep them involved. Find a way to hit some explosive passing plays deep down the field. Make a dang FG if you get the chance. Be special on special teams.

To me, UTC (and this is not a shot at UTC fans, because I'm a fan myself, I would pull for UTC when they played JSU or anyone for that matter...)
But UTC would always have a team that should compete for a NC and they would win 6-7 games, limp into the playoffs and lose the first round, or not even make the playoffs.
I don't understand it, they should be a powerhouse in FCS football...

I really think we are going to be like Saban - 2007 Alabama. We may win some games and we will definitely lose some, but it’s going to take a season or two to get this ship righted. We were in a mess for years.

Tuesday and no games notes yet? Team had to practice today. Ugggh. I miss my Monday studying the 2 deep for the opponents. Fun to go through all the information. Hope maybe that will appear on Wednesday.

TimesDaily article this morning says Kenebrew should be back for this game. For those that aren't aware, he was held out of the Mercer game for something called "rhabdo", a kidney condition. To be perfectly honest, I had never heard of it prior to a few days ago. He described it as a "full-body cramp", and apparently if the illness isn't handled it can lead to permanent disability or even death. He was held out for Mercer as a precaution due to the extreme heat.
So yeah, don't blame the coaches for that one. We need him healthy, or at least as healthy as he can be. Coach Wewers says he's now 100%. Let's hope so.
Also of note according to the TD, there is new turf at Braly this year. It is supposed to be "softer" than what we had previously. Personally I look forward to the day we are in our own stadium with natural grass, but good to see Florence is actually putting some money into the stadium.

Thanks, glad that's clear about TK and I apologize for assuming it could be discipline issue, but he didn't look injured so that was my next assumption. Hope he takes care of himself with this medical condition, I have heard of it, being in the medical field and wife(s) being nurses, you find out almost anything can kill you...lol You can probably forget about natural grass in our stadium... players love the new turf overall, and its more cost effective in the long run... With having to use the stadium for multiple sports, I don't think there is an option for grass.

A question from one of our fans:
"I wonder what caused them to put the light poles in the seating area on one side of their stadium."
It is different.

A question from one of our fans: "I wonder what caused them to put the light poles in the seating area on one side of their stadium." It is different. At the time, when that area was expanded, it would have cost too much to move them... A renovation was done a couple years back and removed them. Those poles was behind the seats prior to the much larger stands going in.

So the photo I posted is no longer valid. Got it. The stadium is FAR from perfect, but it is at least better than what it was a few years ago. What's sad is, I would say in the late 90s it was one of the better D2 stadiums in the country. Obviously it needed to be since we hosted the D2 championship game for so many years. The City (which owns the stadium) unfortunately seemed to stop putting as much money toward it for maintenance after the championship game left in the early 2010s. Which is odd, since the high school team plays there too, and you'd THINK they would want to keep the local university happy. But not so much, it seems. Too many Bama and Auburn fans involved, which I know UTC can understand with the UTK fans. Still, the Braly location is fun and it can be a good atmosphere when we are playing well and the fans show up. Maybe the Mocs can return in a few years when we (hopefully?) have a bit more talent. If it's a playoff game, that would be just fine.

I just generally despise fake grass, but I guess it is what it is. I'll take it if it helps get us a new home.

I used to go Florence annually for the sprint triathlon and we enjoyed eating at Ricatoni's. I recommended it on our board. Is it still good? Any other places in particular you would recommend?

Ricatonni's has never once disappointed me, so yep, I'd still recommend it. Really you can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on Court Street downtown. Singin' River Brewery is good for some beverages if you're into that sort of thing. Taco Mama beside it has a cool atmosphere and good food. If you find yourself out by the mall area, Sam's Sports Grill is a favorite of mine. They have a big menu so everybody can find something there. And of course a lot of TVs with games on.

Most anything on Court Street... struts just opened on pine street, if you want to go out of the City limits, Sledges BBQ is my favorite.
