The football Twitter account just made it official that the game against Mercer is in Montgomery. Nice!

You know what I love about the ASUN/WAC football only conference?
We got 4 teams that are peers in the football side of the ASUN that have rivalry potential sparking. We have a history with UCA that's great. APSU and UNA was getting after it on the field last season, you could tell on both sides, it's gonna be a chippy rivalry. And UNA and EKU played one of the funnest games (objectively) you could watch as a football fan.
Playing with the WAC schools provides a broad range of interest and could develop rivalries outside our region... remember our first D1 game? I'm sure SUU fans do...

It's not bad at all, as long as we don't lose EKU, APSU, or UCA. If we do... I'm reserving the right to change my mind, haha. I like at least having OVC and SoCon teams to play out of conference. And if the "worst" we have to do is replace them someday with CUSA and Sun Belt teams, that'll be ok too.

Just a reminder, as unaman stated a couple of pages back... I think we can confidently say the Kickoff game will be on either ESPN or ESPN2, and SHOULD be the only game on. Things can obviously change, but we have a chance here to be in a nationally televised game with little or no competition.
In other words, we need to WIN THE DAMN GAME.

Not only that, but it would be nice if the Pride would show up and creat an electronic environment. Would love to see a huge crowd from both sides. It's been a far cry from what it started with. Hopefully we can change that.

Who's making plans on going to Montgomery? I plan to take my dad and my son to the game. Excited to see this team under Dearmon. I think anything better than 3-8 would be a great season.

As of now we definitely plan on going to the game. I am hoping we completely surprise some teams and looks like a few Lions fans this year. I am not ready to make any predictions.

I'm 50/50 just yet on Montgomery. But, I'm also looking into the Tallahassee game. Both are just under 3 hours from me and will the be the closest to Pensacola UNA has played since that lone game with UWF here in town. That was the only away game I've attended in more than a decade. I think the last away game I went to before that was a playoff game at DSU about 15 years ago with another friend on here.

I'm planning on Tallahassee as well... I've been a FSU fan since I can remember, not as much as I used to be since Bobby, but there still my FBS school. But I'm only pulling for UNA....

Which new player to the roster excites you the most? I'm not excited about any one player this year... I'm looking forward to see how this is going to be different. Hopefully for good.

JJ Evans at receiver is big strong fast receiver. Lacey getting more touches from backfield and Driggers playing healthy on offense. Growth in offense from Walters, Heatherly, and also surprise player at TE Erin Outley. If TK and Evans create havoc for receiver those TE and backs catching the ball out of the backfield we could be very tough to slow down let alone stop. Defense will excite us all if Leak/Floyd/ can step in and help that linebacker group immediately. Lot coming back, only Ponder excites me from returning group with potential. DT has to be the most improved position if we want to win this year. Does Brown/Elmore come in and upgrade that position? If so our defense will be much improved as we really struggled at the point of attack last year. I like defensive ends with Ossai/Green/and think Colbert has a lot of potential, played with one hand most of last year and still played. Fann and Augustus/Antkowiak show some pass rushing abilities too. We lost a leader and sure tackler at safety, 1 Fields will be missed and was really wore down late as he was the only sure player in the secondary last year. This group has completely changed with incoming talent. Bien-Aime seems like a Shut down corner like we had with Philbert a few years ago. Yep big praise, but this kid will make an impact. Hearing Madison has improved, Trujillo/Peters have improved, and then the safeties bring some heat with hard hitting Reddick/Schultz/Powell. If the chemistry in game is there we could definitely be a threat this season. We seem to have better depth on paper. Ready for game one to show we are D1 ready.
ROAR LIONS!

Mercer is ranked in at least three pre-season polls anywhere from 17-23. This could bode well if the Lions can pull out a win in Montgomery!
