North Alabama has announced Jad Prachniak as the new head baseball coach. 2x National Champ. He’ll have to build some relationships with high school/juco coaches around the area, but I definitely like the resume!

Prachniak (pronounced PRACK-knee-ak) spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Delaware. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons as the head coach at Division II West Chester, leading the Rams to two national championships. He began his full-time coaching career in 2005 and spent six seasons at William and Mary, finishing his time there as recruiting coordinator and pitching coach. roarlions.com/news/2022/6/23/baseball-jad-prachniak-named-head-baseball-coach-at-una.aspx?fs=e&s=cl

Well atleast we know we weren’t waiting on a college World Series coach to finish like some suggested haha… hope it works out I really do but this hire isn’t making much sense.

Why isn’t it making much sense? Great D2 coach that recently moved up as a D1 assistant. Sounds like a great resume of a new coach for a school just coming out of transition.

I think it's a good hire. He's been successful, even if it was at the D2 level. It reminds me of what we found in the golf coach. If a guy can recruit and develop players to a D2 school, there's no reason he can't do it for us.
It might not work out, but I like his resume more than a guy who's only ever been an assistant.

We weren’t going to pull an assistant from these college World Series teams. They make too much money and are waiting on another P5 job. This is the route I anticipated us taking.

I think we have all seen the difference between D2 and D1 the last few years.37-48 in his 2 years at deleware is better than what we have been doing at the D1 level. And I’m sure he has fundraising ties along with regional recruiting contacts will pay off.

It sounds like you was wanting someone that already had regional contacts in place. Such as someone that knew and was on good terms with the regional high school coaches.

I thought Matt was going to be the guy! I wanted Hancock because of his knowledge of the area and his ability to be able to go in and recruit right away. Saying that, I do believe that Hancock being the pitching coach here in the past unfortunately hurt his stock in the interview process. Also he had no head coaching experience which is what Looney seems to be going after (no complaints there). If this coach can go to the jucos and high schools in the area and build relationships he should be fine. Needs to hire a solid hitting coach now. Don’t forget about his assistant.

Looks like a solid hire. He is proven, National championships at any level are hard. I hope we give him an opportunity to succeed by allowing him to hire the assistant staff he will need to compete. I am sure he will come and try to change the culture and get this team going in a positive direction. Excited to see the roster changes and team direction. Roar Lions!

Solid hire. I love everything I have read about him so far. Some of his past players have also put some very good and positive stuff out there about him.
I do have a buddy that coaches a summer team and he texted me this morning and said that the new UNA coach is coming to watch a couple of his players this weekend. So the fact that he is already out recruiting is huge.
