Unfortunately, a lot of this has to do with our facilities at UNA. They’re bad. Were OK for division 2, but not even close to adequate for D1 standards. Right now these guys are picking other FCS programs because of nicer facilities. The FOOTBALL at UNA is good enough to attract these guys, but the Facilities and gear don’t match up with other top FCS powers right now. The university gets it and this is why a new stadium and locker room will be coming sooner or later. Roar Lions.

For a long time I think our facilities were some of the best in D2, but towards the end they weren't. Braly was allowed to just sit there with minimal updates, and that's no doubt part of what convinced the NCAA to take the championship game elsewhere (though there were bigger reasons of course). Hope we hear something on the new stadium sometime this season. Though I wouldn't be surprised if recruits know before they rest of us.

I also found we feel pretty good about the first unit. We are not going to bring a player to just bring in a player. We must have some depth, which is a great sign that some of the younger players are taking the next step.

Defensively, we should use the Jimmy Johnson model. He took safeties and put more bulk on them and made them swift savage linebackers. He bulked up corners and made them fast safties. He turned 230 pound LBs into All America speed rushing defensive ends. It worked pretty good for him.

I'm a little surprised by our lack of transfers. Maybe I shouldn't be. Willis obviously doesn't have the contacts of a Terry Bowden (for better or worse) or even Bobby. But, I would've thought we'd be able to get a couple of SEC guys who couldn't make the grades or a grad transfer that wanted more playing time. I guess I could also be underestimating the impact of being ineligible for the playoffs. Anybody know where we stand on our scholarships? Are we up to the FCS limit yet? Or is that something that's phased in? If you watch the interview of NDSU pre and post games last year, I think it was mentioned that UNA went to full allotment of scholarships in year 1. I remember Lender saying that that was the most important thing to do right away during the transition. Then facilities are to be upgraded.

I may have heard it at the time, but couldn’t remember.

I don't like the shoddy or shi well, you know, treatment the big south gives us on Any Given Saturday. We do't exist. I know we can't compete for a championship but they should at least acknowledge us in the conference news.

I asked about the Big South news and why they was still posting mostly Coastal Carolina news and was told it was just fans posting on there. The Big South or admin of the forums didnt have anything to do with it.

The Big South or admin of the forums didnt have anything to do with it. I peeked into that forum a time or two. Seemed to me that most conversations were run by Bison fans. The Big South schools were not very well represented. I think the truth is, we probably have the most supportive fanbase of any school in this conference by a longshot. On the original topic of this thread, saw Willis say in the TD this morning that he is still hoping to add more offensive linemen. He didn't sound very confident, though. Said we have already had some guys turn us down, and blamed it on the postseason ban. Hopefully we can find a few warm bodies to at least help out in practice.

AGS is basically an NDSU board. I quit going there last year. Terrible site. I'd rather talk DI sports in the OT forum of D2MessageBoard.com than participating at AGS.

He is used to poor offensive line and wow is that a drop from where he was? I was never overly impressed with him. Lopez May be more accurate than Francois? Should make playing them a little more fun.

Think Francois probably has more arm talent. Lopez doesn’t have the gun like Francois but his short and intermediate passing game is good. Panchi also protects the ball very well. Looking forward to that game a little bit more now. It’ll be a little weird watching a guy playing on ESPN for Florida State now playing UNA on ESPN+ but you got to love it.
