UNA basketball: Brim, Redparth ready to get started with Lions
Not saying it’s good, bad, or anything else, but I find it interesting that we are essentially replacing DD Smith and Kendall Stafford with two players who are, on the surface at least, almost the same players. Including Brim and Redparth, we have 11 players for next year. I believe the max is 13, but I could be wrong. Maybe we choose to only provide scholarships for 11, I don’t know. But I do wonder if intend to add anyone else if possible. I’d love to add another big... but so would 75% of the other D1 schools, I’m sure.

Coach said we are looking at adding two more. We also get one back that was hurt and redshirted last year. He was sorely missed. So if we get three offensive guys coming in with the base we have now....we should be quite dangerous next year. I think we are looking for 6’7 and taller player to help in post. Exciting what type of players the coaches are bringing to North Alabama.

We were listed to be leading for a 6-11 player from Maryland, I believe. He's slender but, as the great Cornbread Maxwell famously mused in the early 80s... Hey, you can't teach height.
But you can add bulk. I wish i could recall his name.

Recently wrapping up North Alabama visit, Chris Maidoh '19 impressed w/what program has to offer. 6-foot-10, 175 wing/stretch four is reliable outside shooter who spreads floor out with hard to guard 7-3 wingspan. Maryland native continues to generate interest.
Unfortunately, he has now picked up offers from Georgia, Charlotte, U-Mass, St. Louis, Saint Bonaventure and Wyoming. UGH.

Lions add junior college transfer to rosterThis looks like a good pickup. Anderson is a 6'5" forward who is a good scorer. I find it interesting that we are picking up so many JUCO guys. Not saying it's bad, just interesting that we are able to bring in guys who have no chance to go to an NCAA tournament with us. Obviously they need to pan out before we can say this for sure, but is it more evidence of Coach Pujol's recruiting ability? Hopefully so.

We will have more length than last year without Youngblood. At times our guards were just too short to give any rebounding help or defend the 3 position in the post. I think our staff is doing a great job of recognizing some of the deficiencies. We address thru recruiting with guys ready to come in and contribute. I hope football staff is able to find a couple of offensive lineman....we have really struggled to bring those guys in. Basketball should be stronger and have some confidence after 2nd half of the season. Really excited for future there, wish NCAA didn’t keep us from being better sooner...it is what it is...hate that saying.

Got a rim protector at 6’9 and another guy at 6’7. Go staff go! Lions men’s basketball is going to be special soon, next year should be fun.
