Got home about an hour ago. What an enjoyable day trip to Oxford. Saw the game and toured the downtown area a little. Perfect day made better by learning, when I got home, that the SEC team we beat is currently ranked 18 in D1! Been a rough beginning for UNA baseball but the potential for better days is there.

Noticed it was "School Day" as the place was pretty full with thousands of middle school kids. Perfect pre-recruiting outreach with the win. Do we invite kids to baseball games?

I woke up this morning still thinking about beating #18 Ole Miss.
Some questions, and thoughts.
We gave KSU everything they wanted in that series, and took a game from Stetson in that one. I have saw improvement by both Coaches and players the past week or a little longer. Are we turning it around?
Anyone who has played or pays much attention to baseball knows, confidence can go a heck of a long way.
By the way, new outlets in Mississippi are acting like this is the end of the world for Ole Miss baseball. Lol.

I'll just say the team I saw play yesterday was not the team I've been reading about on this message board the last few weeks. The pitching was good and the hitting was solid. You could see the confidence growing as the game went on. Right now, I'm trying to arrange things where I can watch UNA take on Liberty Saturday. I think we can take the current #1 in our conference given we play with the energy and confidence of yesterday.

To beat Stetson (who went deep into the postseason last year but are down a bit this year) and then a ranked Ole Miss is beyond imaginable. Yet, it happened within two games of each other. I hope this is some type of miraculous turnover vs. a blip on the radar that was simply "enough" for him to keep his job.
This can go either way for us. Several of the hits yesterday were almost bloopers. Chip shots up the middle, balls falling at odd angles as their players dropped, etc.
I hope it's a turnaround. Either way, I'll take these past couple of wins!!
Roar Lions!

UNA went against the modern version of baseball and went old school and out "small balled" ole Miss. They put the ball in the areas that they would have a hard time getting it. Reminds me of the old saying "Put it where they aint." I like that kind of baseball. To me, it's more exciting.

Awesome win vs Ole Miss. my phone blew up that afternoon...several people texted me about the news. Then we get trucked by Samford 9-1? How? We beat Ole Miss and made Alabama baseball look good and they are not...we must have a major lack of confidence on the team...

Does seem like a team in search of a personality. You could tell they were having fun against Ole Miss. Seems they need to believe in themselves and have some fun. Have a purpose (building for the future and creating a foundation), learn, and have some fun! Enjoy the game...few get to play at this level (D1 Baseball).

I agree with tuna85. I have been expressing some frustrations but also looking for positives. It seemed the first few games our guys were not having fun and not confident. We lost a major part of the team last year. We all knew this would be a building program this year and next. We are playing some very strong teams. We have some Juco transfers and the Soph. and Freshmen that have been contributing looking good for the future. The main thing we should all be looking for is if we can improve each game.

It was back to the same ole ways yesterday, lost 9-1 to Samford.

Ole Miss has rebounded to dominate #21 Florida in the first two games of that series this weekend. Rebels won 12-4 yesterday and 16-4 earlier today. They are about to play again.
